Baby Floor Mats for Crawling with Polyethylene Foam are Safe for Babies

Babies will start crawling when they are three months old. At this time, parents should prepare baby floor mats for crawling for them to crawl freely on. However, many parents are not familiar with crawling mats and even sometimes may purchase toxic ones which might affect babies' physical growth. So, is the polyethylene foam in baby floor mats for crawling safe for babies?

It is safe, of course. Crawling mats are generally composed of EPE and plastic wrap. The middle layer is EPE, aka Pearl Foam, an odorless environmentally friendly material and often used in food packaging, and the surface layer is plastic wrap which is an environmentally friendly color film used for pattern printing.

At present, high-quality baby floor mats for crawling generally use environmental protection PE foam as the production material. Its advantages are soft and elastic, which can effectively reduce vibration and impact, and this kind of material is non-toxic and tasteless, which does not contain any harmful substances and is easy to clean. Thus, it is more healthy for babies, which makes moms feel more relieved.

The foam mat made of PE foam is non-toxic. Polyethylene is odorless and non-toxic and feels like wax. It has excellent resistance to low temperature as the minimum use temperature can reach -100 to -70°C. With good chemical stability, it can withstand most acids and alkalis though it is intolerant of acids having oxidizing properties. What's more, it is insoluble in general solvents at room temperature with low water absorption and excellent electrical insulation.
